HCEV New 11k PHEV Prius Averaging 81 mpg on th Highway
Knoxville, MDSept, 25, 2009I'm happy to announce that HCEV completed an installtion of it 11k Lithium PHEV Conversion kit it our 2005 Prius a few weekends ago. After two weeks of driving in "mixed mode" which is only "PHEV assist", the car is averaging 81 mgp on daily drives of 73.6 miles. View Larger MapSince we're in the hills, the daily drive is a mixture of backroads, highway, and hilly terrain. Due to the large battery pack composed of 76 Thundersky 40 amp hour LiFeSO4 cells with a battery management system, the car makes the round trip with "juice to spare", with long stretches down Rt 15 on only electric.I'm really happy to be driving 370 plus miles a week and going to the gas station every two to get my paultry 9.8 gallon fill-up. HCEV Big Show at WVU Oddyssy Day
October 14, 2008Martinsburg, WVHCEV was proud to participate in West Virginia University's National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey which was a free event highlighting alternative fuel vehicles includign our BugE SRT."Odyssey is a national education campaign for consumers who are looking for options in the face of soaring fuel prices," explained Judy Moore, director of communications for the National Alternative Fuel Training Consortium headquartered at the West Virginia University. The group coordinated similar events with volunteers in 90 cities across the U.S., she said. October 31, 2008 HCEV Facility Knoxville, MD During a visit to HCEV facility one autumn afternoon, Yolonda Vasquez of MotorWeek took a spin in the HCEV BuGE SRT all electric single passenger three-wheel commuter. The three and a half minute segment aired originally ran on October 31st, 2008's FYI segment, and ran for adddition weeks after on local PBS stations accross the country. We said it was coming, and now it's here. Available now is the HCEV '04-'08 Prius PHEV conversion which offers up to 100 mpg, and up to 25 miles "all EV" driving.We believe if you have to have one vehicle, a PHEV Prius is the best option.
