Products - Flexible Fuel Series Hybrid Range Extender (SHRE)

Projected Availability: Spring '08

The idea of supplementing an EVs range by using a generator pulled by a trailer has been explored a few times (see below for links to some of them). In order for EVs to be more practical for more people, the range limitations must be overcome. And while battery technology is improving range, for most people the costs of such technologies as lithuim polymer are not yet viable economically. And even when they become viable, having options is a good thing. Even if my EV can go 250 miles on a charge, what if I want to go say 400? What can I do?

We believe the answer lies in providing flexibility and options. There are many ways to provide cleaner, cheaper, and portable power than ICE engines produce today, and that's what our Hybrid Extenders are all about. Not your typical ICE (internal Combustion Engine) car with an EV suppliment that gives you maybe say 10 miles on electric (like the Prius). That's better. But it's still far from solving the real problem -- our dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil.

That's why at Harvey Coachworks & EV we are committed to produce a viable, efficient, and most environmentally friendly range extender to allow EVers to take their EVs where they've never gone before.
