HCEV Prius Plug-In Hybrid Conversion - Starting at $6900 Completely Installed
![]() ![]() |
The Prius PHEV Conversion from HCEV is an addon battery pack and a charger installed in the car below the rear deck. No original components in the vehicle are modified and storage space is not impacted. The charger plugs into a regular 120v outlet and fully charges the additional battery pack in about 5 hours. When charging is complete the car can be driven up to 25 miles (depending on the conversion package) without the engine turning on at speeds below 35mph. At higher speeds the electricity that was stored by charging the additional battery pack blends with the gasoline powering the engine to produce much higher mileage than an unmodified vehicle. When the additional battery pack is empty the car reverts to original operation automatically. The PHEV conversion is available with two battery options to suit your driving needs.

In order for EVs to be more practical for more people, the range limitations must be overcome. And while battery technology is improving range, for most people the costs of such technologies as lithium polymer are not yet viable economically. And even when they become viable, having options is a good thing. Even if my EV can go 250 miles on a charge, what if I want to go say 400? What can I do?
